What is the recipient experience at the merchant?
The recipient will use their gift card just like any other debit card. They hand the card to the clerk or waiter and they'll receive a text message with their updated balance within seconds of the card being swiped.
Note: If the total bill is more than the amount on the gift card, they should tell the merchant how much to charge the gift card and pay the remaining balance separately.
